General Questions
What areas do you Service?
We service Hamilton, the Golden Horseshoe, and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, and the surrounding areas in Southern Ontario . We also do long distance moves throughout the province and beyond.
What services does EasyShift Moving offer?
EasyShift Moving offers a comprehensive range of services, including local and long-distance moving, residential and commercial moving, packing and unpacking services, and junk removal.
How do I get a quote for my move?
You can request a free quote by visiting our website and filling out the online form, by email at easyshiftmoving@gmail.com, or by calling our customer service team at 289-639-1224. We’ll need some basic information about your move to provide an accurate estimate.
Do you charge any additional fees or minimum charges?
We have a 3 hour minimum. All charges will be listed on your contract, which will be presented to you prior to your move, and upon completion of your move. Moves involving a radius of greater than 80 kilometers may include additional travel time/gas charges. Other fees are:
Specialty Item Fee- applies items that are particularly difficult to move e.g. any major appliances, safes, pool tables, treadmills and other large/heavy fitness equipment
Disposal Fee- If you would like us to dispose of any items
Overnight Fee- For situations involving leaving things on the truck overnight
Excess Kilometres- If your the distance of your move exceeds a radius of 80km between addresses
Excess Stairs and/or Walkup- A fee that applies when your move involves a number of stairs or distance from our truck to the location where contents are being moved that is significantly larger than typical moves.
We charge by the quarter hour after our 3 hour minimum. Charges by the clock begin upon arrival at the address you are moving from, and continue until completion of the offload. We offer reduced rates for smaller/one item moves.
Are your rates different at different times of the month?
Our rates do change based on the time of the month and the number of moves we have booked for that day. We recommend booking with us earlier to ensure you get the lowest price on busier days, such as the end of the month, and the very beginning of the month.
How does your pricing work? Do you offer flat rates?
For most moves, we prefer to offer an estimate based on expected time to complete your move. We will give you a quote explaining the hourly rate and any additional fees, if they apply. The final price is based on the actual time that the job takes. In some circumstances, and when requested, we can offer you a flat rate after having a moving consultant look over your location and the belongings you are moving. On our visit, we will need to find out exactly what is being moved, if there are any specialty items, and what the access to the location is like (e.g. long walks to your door, tight staircases, etc.). We will also want to ask about the location you are moving to. This enables us to offer you the most accurate quote. Options for assessing your move for a flat rate include sending us pictures via email, an in-person visit, or a video call.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, EasyShift Moving is fully licensed. We comply with all local and federal regulations to ensure the safety and security of your belongings. Our prices generally include basic coverage of your belongings at a level of 60 cents per pound while they are in transit with us.
What payment methods do you accept?
Currently, we accept cash and E-Transfers. We provide receipts by email. For payments by E-Transfer, please send them to our email address, easyshiftmoving@gmail.com. We are working on accepting other forms of payment, such as credit and debit cards, but cannot accept them at this time.
Before the Move
How far in advance should I schedule my move?
Typically, we recommend scheduling your move at least 4-6 weeks in advance, especially during peak moving seasons (spring and summer). However, we can accommodate last-minute moves based on availability. Being a new company, we currently have a lot of immediate availability if you have a last minute move.
What should I do to prepare for my move?
Start by decluttering and organizing your belongings. Pack items you won’t need before the move, label all boxes clearly, and create an inventory list. Our team can also provide professional packing services if needed.
Can I pack my own belongings?
Yes, you can pack your own belongings. However, we offer professional packing services to ensure that all items are securely packed and protected during transit.
During The Move
What should I do with my high value items when moving?
We highly recommend that you transport all high value/irreplaceable items with you to your new address. This includes items such as cash, Jewelry, Coin/Stamp collections, etc. and any high value personal items.
What items are prohibited from being moved?
We cannot transport hazardous materials, flammable items, perishable foods, plants, and animals. A detailed list of prohibited items will be provided during the consultation.
How do you protect my furniture and fragile items?
We use high-quality packing materials and techniques to protect your furniture and fragile items. This includes padding, shrink wrap, and custom crating for delicate or valuable items.
What if something gets damaged during the move?
While we take every precaution to protect your belongings, accidents can happen. In the rare event of damage, we offer various levels of coverage and will work with you to resolve any issues promptly.
After The Move
Do you offer unpacking services?
Yes, we offer unpacking services to help you settle into your new home quickly and efficiently. Our team will unpack and arrange your belongings according to your instructions.
Can you move my belongings into storage?
Absolutely. We do not currently offer any storage through our company, but if you arrange storage separately, moving your things into storage is absolutely something we can help you with.
How do I pay for my move?
Currently, We accept cash or e-transfers. Please send payments by E-Transfer to easyshiftmoving@gmail.com. We are working on being able to accept other various payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and certified checks, but cannot currently accept these options. Payment is required upon completion of the move.
